The foundation promotes activities, projects and research that are interdisciplinary, serve the goal of sustainability in ecological borderlands and are characterised to a high degree by practical feasibility.
The Andrea von Braun Foundation pursues the two interrelated directions:
Methodically, the foundatione supports interdisciplinary cooperation among fields of knowledge separated far from one another.
Contentwise, the understanding, maintaining and care of so-called ecological boundary areas in our dominant focus. By this term the foundations means areas where different types of biotopes interact. Among these are marsh or peat fields, mangrove forests, savannahs, tidelands, brackish waters etc. Usually, they will involve wet or moist areas, but not large bodies of water like the high seas or major lakes. In this context the foundation is not only concerned with purely biological or ecological issues, but also with the cultural, economic, social and educational structures in such areas.
The foundations expressly welcomes non-academic endeavours and projects.
